The third edition of the Legal Series for Investors discusses land and your land rights. Upon the founding of this country, lawmakers believed freedom stemmed from the ability to work the land free from encumbrances from the government. This means taxes, legal codes, and confiscation. And to that point, the founders believed land ownership and the ability to defend it using the second amendment went hand in hand. True unencumbered ownership equaled rights; the land securitized the Bill of Rights. We discuss what allodial or fee simple title means, why the founders gave it to us, and how those rights have been usurped by the government in today’s society.
